Matrikon(TM) announces resignation of Shafin Kanji
EDMONTON, Jan. 23 /CNW/ - Matrikon Inc. (TSX:MTK) today announced that
executive vice president of operations Shafin U. Kanji has resigned effective
January 31, 2006 to accept the president and chief executive officer position
at JER Envirotech International Corp. (TSX-V: JER).
Shafin, who joined Matrikon as chief financial officer in 1999, was
instrumental in Matrikon's early development as a public company. In October
2004, Shafin became executive vice president of operations where his financial
background was integral to developing systems and processes to improve the
financial efficiency of Matrikon's professional services organization.
Significant progress has been made in this effort as evidenced by record gross
margins and average daily rate improvements over the past year.
"We recognize the contribution Shafin has made to Matrikon's growth and
development and we wish him well," said Amin Rawji, president and chief
executive officer of Matrikon. "The systems, processes and, more critically,
the people are in place to continue our growth and execute our strategy."
"It is difficult to leave the Matrikon family, however, I am excited
about this new opportunity and look forward to the new challenges it will
entail," said Shafin. "I am confident that Matrikon is in good hands and
remains well positioned for continued growth."
As the necessary financial processes are now in place within the
professional services organization, Matrikon plans to fill this position
through the internal promotion of an individual with operations and technical
experience in order to shift the focus to growing the services business within
our key industries.
