Gennum Releases the nX6000(TM) Bluetooth(R) Headset

Gennum Builds on the Success of nXZEN's Noise Reduction Technology to
Create a Stylish, Comfortable, Easy-to-Use Headset

BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 4 /CNW/ - Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND), a leading
provider of technology for personal audio products, today announced the
release of the nX6000(TM) Bluetooth(R) headset. The nX6000 is an evolution in
headset design that incorporates industry-leading noise cancellation
technology previously introduced in Gennum's nXZEN(TM) Bluetooth headset.
Stylish, small and comfortable, the nX6000 introduces new features and
functions to the Gennum headset lineup that make the headset both easy to use
and versatile.
In step with advances in Bluetooth standards, nX6000 adopts Bluetooth
version 2.0. The new design utilizes a standard mini-B-USB charge port,
providing a common charging solution and the ability to "future proof" the
headset. With this element, Gennum plans to allow users to download features
to the headset from www.nxzen.com after purchase. Users will also be able to
monitor battery charge levels with a multicolored LED battery status indicator
located around the USB port.
The nX6000 introduces a new multifunction button design, allowing the
user to quickly and easily access the most commonly used features of the
headset. Users will find the volume controls greatly enhanced, with a
responsive tactile feel creating a more intuitive control.
The headset includes Gennum's patented FRONTWAVE Extreme(TM) noise
cancellation algorithm, running on Gennum's custom Digital Signal Processor
(DSP), which processes more than 120 million instructions per second (MIPS).
FRONTWAVE Extreme(TM) is now combined with Digital Voice Isolation, a dual
microphone array that isolates the user's voice from ambient noise so callers
can hear each other clearly even in the loudest environments. The combination
of these two technologies creates a hyper-directional near field pick-up beam
that targets the speaker's voice and eliminates background noise. The
technology works to cancel the complex noise found in extremely loud
environments, such as factories, while retaining natural voice inflections.
"The technology behind the Bluetooth market has developed dramatically
over the past three years," said Don Shaver, Director of Product Development
of the Audio and Wireless Division at Gennum. "The nX6000 is Gennum's answer
to this growth, designed to meet the evolution of style and fit and deliver
function for the future of the headset industry. Its comfort, superior noise
cancellation, and stylish design make the nX6000 the solution for mobile users
in most any environment, be it sporting events, crowded malls, driving with
the windows open or factory floors."
The nX6000 headset's weight has been dramatically reduced to 10.9 grams
and offers six hours of talk time and 90 hours of standby time. The headset
has slimmer removable ear loops that are compatible with eyeglasses and
improved ear tip design to increase comfort.
Look for the nX6000 headset at online and in-store retailers where nXZEN
headsets are sold.
