Major Drilling Announces U.S. Purchase
MONCTON, NB, July 6 /CNW/ - Major Drilling Group International Inc.
(TSX:MDI) is pleased to announce the purchase of North Star Drilling LLC. The
acquisition was completed by Major's wholly owned subsidiary, Major Drilling
Environmental LLC (formerly SMD Services), for a total price of US$ 3 million.
The acquired business includes drilling equipment, contracts and employees.
North Star Drilling provides contract drilling services to the fresh
water and geothermal markets in certain mid-western states in the USA, and
operates from its head office in Little Falls, Minnesota, as well as from
satellite offices in Brainerd and Bemidji, Minnesota.
Mr. Francis McGuire, President and CEO of Major Drilling, stated "when we
expanded into environmental drilling earlier this year with the purchase of
SMD, it was our stated intention to build that business. The North Star
acquisition is part of that ongoing process."
Based in Moncton, New Brunswick, Major Drilling Group International Inc.
